About me
Having successfully completed my Ph.D. in Accountancy from the esteemed John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal, I am fortunate to immerse myself in the fascinating realm of accounting research. My academic journey began in Iran, where I cultivated a strong foundation by earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from the prestigious Islamic Azad University. Fueled by an unwavering passion for the field, I eagerly delved into diverse areas of interest, including Firm Disclosure, Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting, Corporate Governance, Textual Analysis, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). I am proud to be a member of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a drive to make meaningful contributions to the accounting discipline, I am wholeheartedly committed to pushing the boundaries of research and paving the way for innovative solutions in this ever-evolving field.
My profound voyage in the captivating realm of accounting traces its origins long before my Ph.D. It commenced with a remarkable chapter in my life, when I had the privilege of assuming the role of a devoted full-time faculty member at Islamic Azad University, Tuyserkan, Iran, spanning an illustrious decade from 2009 to 2019. I had the great opportunity to lecture various accounting courses such as Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Principles of Auditing, and more. This cherished period not only bestowed upon me invaluable experience but also granted me the distinct honor of assuming significant leadership positions. From July 2014 to September 2016, I proudly served as the Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration, entrusted with overseeing the financial operations and administrative functions of the university. Additionally, from July 2011 to July 2014, I had the esteemed privilege of serving as the Director of Research, steering and shaping the research endeavors of the institution. These exceptional roles not only deepened my understanding of the intricate nuances of accounting but also nurtured my leadership acumen and research aptitude. By immersing myself in these enriching experiences, I honed my skills, broadened my perspectives, and developed a steadfast commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and the advancement of the accounting profession.
In addition to my traditional research interests in accounting, I also developed a keen interest in the use of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), in accounting research. I came to realize that these cutting-edge technologies have the potential to revolutionize the way we approach and analyze accounting data. I had the opportunity to work on several projects that utilize AI and ML techniques to analyze firm disclosure and corporate social responsibility data. The results were quite promising and further solidified my belief in the potential of these technologies to enhance our understanding of accounting and financial information. I am excited to continue exploring the use of AI and ML in accounting research and to discover new insights that can benefit both practitioners and academics in the field.
It has been an exciting journey so far, and I am looking forward to what the future holds as I continue to explore and discover new insights in the field of accounting research. If you would like to review my detailed curriculum vitae (CV), please click the following link to download it:
